Take a look at the attached file. I modified the combine so it only combine in inner bodies, then chamfered the 2 bodies before a final combine at the end of the timeline. Your design is pretty unorganised, you could could have done this with a lot less features and confusion. You should always fully constrain your sketches, I constrained the inner circle sketch for you, check the dimensions. @jeff_strater There's something odd with this sketch, there are double profiles like 2 sketches on top of each other but there's only one sketch‽

Hi,

I'm having some difficulties with chamfering an internal arc on my model. I don't know why as I think I was able to on a previous version, but here's what I'm trying to chamfer.

I don't see any real reason this should be difficult to chamfer - I'm sure I'm not the first to chamfer an arc, and I would love it if the chamfer blended right into the next one, but I'm really unsure how to get that result at the moment! The chamfer size I'm after is 0.05.

Interestingly, I'm able to do a 0.2" chamfer on this diameter, but not the 0.05 I'm after. Here's what that 0.2" chamfer looks like. Obviously that chamfer is even less than unhelpful, but I thought it might help troubleshooting.

I've attached the file - any pointers in the right direction would be well appreciated!

Thanks

Greg

Here's one option. Roll back to the feature in the image below and do the small chamfer. Then you won't have conflicts with the other geometry.

After that you can chamfer the 3 inner pieces, but they won't quite reach all the way.

So then one option is to lower the chamfer so it meets the other one like this:

Or you could split the body and extend it into the other and recombine, or whatever you'd like to get the look you are going for.

Hope that helps, good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply! So straight up, this is my second drawing with fusion360 so it's more then likely it's unorganized and not done in a manner that would pass muster. I'm kind of learning this as I go along so doubtless it needs improvement. Possibly one reason for some of this is that block in the middle I imported from another model. I was fitting the female fit there, and was saving material and time during manufacture by just making the inner block and not the whole part.

That being said thanks for the help! I took a look at your screencast and file. It does look like you're right about the combine and the chamfers there. I rolled my model back to before the combine and the chamfer before it that you referenced, and the problem does appear to be somewhere in there.

The taper that takes those 3 "wings" (attaching the inner circle to outer) down to the height of the outside ring makes chamfering that outer ring impossible. The only way to chamfer it is to do so before tapering those "wings".

Having identified exactly what is causing the issue, is that because of my drawing? Or when joining chamfers on parts at different angles does Fusion always have issues with this? I would have loved to put a radius on that inside corner between the rings and the outer circle, but if it's not really possible I think I might just skip that altogether.
