topic Subassemblies jump out of the place. in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

I need to create a feature based on a subassembly. When I finish editing in place, the reference assembly jumps out of its position. There is no way to bring it back, other than deleting it and undoing the delete.
The subassembly jumps out again, as soon as I start editing something else.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Did you actually read the warning when you deleted the assembly? It actually tells you that the assembly you are

deleting has linked dependencies. Also all of the assemblies seem to be imported, have you tried a file refresh? I

have watched the video several times but I cannot see anything unusual.

Cheers

Andrew

Yes I have, and yes I tried refresh.
Subassembly that changes the position is not related to the edited part, there shouldn't be any trigger to move that subassembly. Additionally, doesn't it seem weird that deleting and undoing the delete brings the component to a correct position?

it is hard to tell without more info, but usually "subassemblies jump out of place" means that somewhere in your design you have an uncaptured component move. Fusion tries to put components in the right place, even when their positions have not been captured, but in some scenarios, these temporary positions are lost. It could be at the top level, or it could be within the sub-assembly. If you see this UI:

It means that you have moved one or more components (could be from Move Component, Component Drag, Drive Joint, etc) that has not been captured.

It is worth pointing out, though, that there are only a few workflows where you want to Capture Position. Most of the time, you should be reverting positions to their home positions, and using Joints and Joint Limits to define those positions.

The assembly in question is fully constrained. Wouldn't that override the

'capture position"?
