It's best to work the way Fusion 360 works instead of the way you want it to work. Why do you need everything to be in one file.

Hello!

I am currently looking for a solution to the following problem:

An assembly should be copied multiple times with 'copy' (not 'copy new'). The components in each assembly are the same and should change when the original component is changed. This works.

But the positions of the parts to each other (inside the assembly) are different in each copy. So I need an independent join in each assembly.

For this to work I would have to use 'copy new'. But then changes to the components would no longer affect the copies.

What I need is a combination of 'copy' (for components) and 'copy new' for joints.

I've tried a few things, but can't find a solution. I hope there's some trick.

Thanks for every help
Jan

Look at the Insert Derive command.

In Timeline mode, you can move the Timeline to before the Copy/Paste New command, make the edit, then move the Timeline forward to the end.

Thanks for the answer.
With 'Derive' the part/assembly must be in its own external design. I would like to have everything in one design.

If I go back within a design in the timeline and change the first part, only that part changes. The new ones, inserted with 'paste new' don't change. But that's the way it's supposed to be.

Obviously there is no easy solution to my problem.

Jan

Thanks for the tip on the Insert Derive command. It was what I needed to copy multiple Bodies to another project. I kept trying to use the Paste New function, but it wasn't happening.

Dave
