I'm trying to help someone design some sunglasses this week, something I'm not amazing at but can hack my way through. On the pair I am working on currently the outer rim needs to be rounded, I've tried playing with the fillet tools but nothing seems to work.....

Any help would be much appreciated.

In order to better understand your problem I'd like to know what it actually is, what is not working. So could you provide me the answer to the following questions? And/or share a public link to validate them my own.

- If you select the outer rim. Is the whole section selected on the first click, or only a part?

- What is the thickness of the extrusion and what is the value of the fillet?

Fully agree, but what would you suggest to do in such a case? He clearly wants a lot of (2D) motion in the design. Just create the shape in Illustrator of Inkscape and export it as SVG?

No. Just use six or seven points for the interior loop. Use four or five for the exterior top, and the same for the exterior bottom. Connect the top and bottom with the straight line at the bridge, and the straight line at the temple.

Agreed, why to many control points. My guess is that if you where to put a curvature comb on those splines they would be a mess, and that would explain why your having trouble with a fillet.

exporting a .f3d of your model and attaching would probably result in better help
