You can see here if sketch one is hidden there are only single lines in the other sketches.

Before the update I would add connecting lines to part of my design. These lines would "snap" together with the rest of my design. Then I could extrude/pull up the height of one side of the design, leaving the other side's height as is.

Now with the new update, I can't find how to add those lines I used to add. I can go to "Create Sketch" and "Line" but these lines don't 'connect' with my original design.

Please see the attached images for what I mean. In image 2, the closeup, I want to add a line that 'connects' or 'snaps' together with the corner of my design. How to do this? thx

There was a change a couple of months ago that set auto project to off as the default. This might be the problem, check your preferences.

I just attached the F3D file. It would be great if can look at it. It is a design of a leaf (for a cookie cutter). Sometimes I do a "dirty trace" in inkscape so in Fusion360 cannot select a part and pull up the height. In this design I can select and pull up the outside line, but I cannot select and pull up the inside detail of the leaf (because dirty trace of inside part). So what I used to do before the update, was add lines to certain parts, to narrow down where the problem area is for the dirty trace. Then correct that part in Inkscape and then bring it into Fusion again so can select and pull up the whole design to the height I want.

As the other guy suggested, I went into preferences and unchecked was "Auto project edges on reference". So I checked it. "Auto project geometry on active sketch plane" was already checked. The sketch lines I add do now connect/snap onto the original leaf design which is good, but I cannot select one side of the line to pull it up.

Before the update the sketch lines I added did not have circles on each side. Now they do. Not sure if that narrows down the issue.

The problem is not the update but the import. Sometimes SVGs don't form closed profiles and there's one bad fillet in the sketch.

The screencast below shows how to find the break by editing your first sketch, draw lines across to find open or closed areas. Don't know what you're trying to do with the extra sketches but you'd need to project in all of the branch to form a closed area. You can't form closed profiles from 2 sketches.

It will depend on where you pick. If you pick on the end of a curve you will only get a point projected, if you pick in the middle of a curve the whole curve will be projected. Also the points can be hidden on the sketch palette if you don't want to see them.

In this screencast you can see the difference between picking the end of a line and the middle. None of this has change in the update.

Thank you sir!! And all else who responded. I was concerned I wasn't explaining what trying to do well. But your solution works. Yes, is all I was looking for is how to find the problem areas.

Before I drew a line on a certain part (like the end of the inside leaf), and then if that part highlighted I knew it was good, if it stayed unhighlighted, then I knew where the problem part was. Your method is better for sure. I'll now draw a line across the whole design, and right click and press pull. Then the unhighlighted part appears so I know what to fix.

Thank you! Fusion360 and this forum is too awesome. You even showed how to edit the problem part so I don't have to correct it in Inkscape. So great. Thank you

Hi Hughes Tooling or anyone else, I just attached another F3D file for a different design. For this design is same thing I want to do - Trying to select the outside and pull up the height. When I do this, the whole design gets pulled up. I just want the border/outside part to be pulled up. But there is a bad trace that didn't import well. So in the past, before the update, I drew a line, for example, on the top and the bottom. Then I could select and pull one side first, and then the other after. But now, when I add a line to the top and bottom, I cannot select and pull just one side.

You can see in the image I also attached I draw a small line on the border at the top, and on the bottom. Before, after doing this, I could then select the right side of the design only or the left side of the design only. But now, the whole design is still getting selected even after I add those sketch lines.

I tried your suggested method of drawing a line across the whole design, then right-clicking and selecting pull. This worked great for the previous leaf design. But for this bone design, it doesn't work for me. How to go about finding the problem trace area on this bone design? Would be greatly appreciated if can check the attached F3D file. Thx

You are adding sketches rather than editing the on with the bone in it. You can not create closed profiles if the curves are in different sketches. You need to delete sketch 2 and 3 then just edit sketch1 or you need to project curves from sketch 1 into the other sketches.

Yesss that did it. I knew was something simple. I was adding extra sketches, not just editing the original one. Thanks again Mark!

I think I see the problem with the new UI. With the old UI you could start the line command then when you pick a point on the existing sketch the sketch activates. Now you have to edit the sketch first before you can start the line command, you were just creating a new sketch rather than edit.

You can get the old workflow back by pressing L to start the line command then pick on the existing sketch will activate it.
