T-Spline Circular Patterns

Hello Fusion 360 Community,

I'm fairly new to Fusion 360 so forgive me for what I hope is an easy solution to my problem. I'm trying to make what is in essence an umbrella but the "closed side" gets smaller but doesn't come to a point like a traditional umbrella.

I figured it would be easy to draw a spline as one of the ribs and then use the circular pattern tool to create the rest of the ribs and then patch over the ribs to create my final shape, however I can't figure out how to do it.

When I draw a spine for a rib on the XY plane, it won't let me create a circular pattern around the X axis to create an umbrella shape. It will only allow me to create the pattern around the Z axis creating the pattern flat on the XY plane which obviously isn't the shape I'm looking for.

No need to draw your spline,

in the Sculpt workspace you create a sphere, with the correct number of ribs,

Manipulate the resulting ball shape, to suit your purpose.

If you can provide your design in form of pencil and paper sketch I can probably show you how to do that.

Splines can be very useful when working with T-Splines, however, if that applies o your project has yet to be seen 😉

Please post what you want to model. Images, sreenshots, screencasts, models can al help to explain the need/situation.

1) Draw an umbrella from the side
2) make sure that the lines create a closed profile and revolve
3) construct an axis and planes under the "construct" tab and split the body with the help of those created planes

It looked interesting so I made one myself.

I recorded how I made it.
