Good day hive mind,

I am trying to find some help on a small matter that I just can not seem to find a work around for. I have a curved surface into which is embedded a cylinder. what I am trying to do is remove the inner portion of the cylinder so the surface is once again smooth and curved.

So far, I have tried the following:

1. Push/Pull the outer circumference of the inner cylinder but it effects the whole cylinder (inner & outer).

2. Push/Pull the inner surface of the curved piece but it only buries the inner portion of the cylinder (and makes the curve to deep).

3. trying to create a sketch that follows the inside surface of the curve using a line from the existing sketch used to create the curve and then using the extrude to 'cut' the offending portion but I cant seem to select that original sketch line?

I am far from an expert with Fusion 360 (only to day I learnt how to copy a sketch thanks to this forum), but I am not sure which direction I should be heading in? Picture attached for reference but any advice is most gratefully appreciated.

Giles

I am going to show you two methods.

First, use a new feature operation to cut off the inside of the cylinder. I show modifying the sketch of the curve, and using Extrude to cut of everything on the inside of it. But you could instead make a new sketch for this purpose, or Extrude the cylinder again, only up to the curved face.

Second, and I think a better idea, is to just model it correctly in the first place. Only extrude the cylinder FROM where you want and TO where you want. I show editing the original extrude feature and correcting the settings. I believe this is a better idea because you don't end up with extra steps/clutter in the timeline.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/108c148e-a077-49b4-95a2-47c01b0a68a5
