    <description>&lt;P&gt;.obj should be OK. If the objects were Sub-d modeled then they quad meshes. Those can be converted into T-Splines and then NURBS and BRep so they can be worked on with most “normal” modeling tools inside Fusion 360.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;It would help if you could share one of these files in .obj and maybe also in the original.3ds format.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I have several guitar's in 3ds formats. I want to open these in Fusion 360, extract just the guitar body, then export a .dxf file so I can create a flat image to create a MDF template. Is there a simple way to do this?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;You'll need to find a program that can convert .3ds files to another format recognized by Fusion 360.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Then you can:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Create a sketch above the guitar body.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Project the guitar body to the sketch.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Save the sketch as dxf (right click on the sketch in the Browser to bring up the context menu).&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;If it were truly brep/nurbs model, then the .stl file would be best in my opinion. But considering it started as a .3ds file, then is is probably a mesh model.&amp;nbsp; In that case the .obj will be as good as any.&amp;nbsp; Extracting what you need from the mesh model will be your next challenge.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
