Issue to make a mold for composite

Hi, I'm designed a fairing for a motorbike, I created a surface.

Now i need to create a mold to manufacture the fairing in carbon fiber.

I tried to make a box and to "extrude" the surface to cut the box but it is not possible.

Can you help me? THANKS!

You can thicken the surface and use that to cut a body for a mold. You will have to fill in the center though with a patch first and probably you will need to extend the sides to a plane.
