Missing function in sketch(?)

Pursuant to the recent toolbar update, it appears that the Chamfer function has disappeared from the Sketch/Modify mode functionality. Can anyone corroborate this, and then explain why? I can't imagine why a very simple, but very useful tool would be eliminated. Let me know if I'm missing something. Thanks --

@mbostonsprint - sketch has never had a Chamfer tool. It was not removed in the UI update:

A solid chamfer added to the model at the end of the timeline or components works better in fusion than using one in the sketch, when the sketch engine is way better it probably would not matter.

This has already been covered here before.

I am teaching a beginning class and have been taking notice of all of the reasons that we could not use Fusion 360 in this class. We just finished a part with extruded taper of sketch chamfer (in Autodesk Inventor Professional and in SolidWorks). This isn't my first rodeo.

I don't believe for a single second that the lack of a chamfer function in the sketcher would be so disabling that you could not instruct a beginners class.

Granted a chamfer function in the sketcher would be helpful to speed up some sketching operations, but in the end its a convenience function and crating a chamfer without a specific chamfer tool is hardly difficult, even for a beginner.

It would, however, be very interesting to see what that list included!

Just last week you were apologizing to @jeff_strater for tossing sarcasm for something we ran into (I don't even recall what it was). Last week we were also using reference (driven) dimensions in equations for driving dimensions.

Seems every time I turn on the box - there is something simple....

This list would be a bit more difficult to checkoff...

...I guess it depends a lot on exactly who your customer is.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I must have been using Chamfer enough in modeling mode that when I ran into a sketch situation that would have benefitted from that, I made an assumption based on the new UI setup. I agree that it isn't really necessary, but it would be a convenience in some circumstances of tight geometry and odd angles being created in Sketch mode.

This does however bring up the much larger question of gaslighting the large body of users of online-only resident software by telling them "Why no, that never ever existed", and no one can prove otherwise;-)

Performing the chamfer as a solid doesn't matter very much if you are using it as 2D only. One of the things I like about fusion is it's ability to replace a few programs, which is important for people who are younger and don't have much money (and are just getting started out). Not everyone owns a business and can simply use multiple different expensive programs to perform basic tasks such as make a template to make sure your parts fit, before you machine them out of expensive materials and use the most valuable resource of all, your time.

I frequently use sketch to make 2d templates, so not having a chamfer tool in sketch does make things a bit tedious.

The work around I found to quickly add a lot of chamfers is just to make a fillet, delete it and make a line between the two points the fillet created. Not perfect but it works.

Why waste time on that? One simple extrude and then chamfer all corners with a single chamfer feature is far quicker. Also the end design with be more efficient, if you add chamfers to a sketch and fully constrain you're adding lots of extra load to the sketch solver. In a sketch each chamfer is going to add a couple of dimensions and a coincident constraint, not as bad as a fillet that adds a dimension, 2 tangent constraints and a coincident constraint. Advice 3d modeling has always been keep sketches simple and fillet\chamfer the solid, preferably at the end of the design.

If your primary use of Fusion 360 is CAM for a laser or plasma machine, then sketch enhancements would be very welcome.
