Hi all,
I need to translate onto a flat surface the perimeters of a generic spherical triangle, so to obtain laser-cutting path for generating pieces that will be subsequently blended in order to reconstruct the entire model.

In the attached images you can see an "ogive" that I want to cut into tre slices. Each slice perimeter will become the laser-cutting paths.

I know that the matter go right to the general projection problem (ex. the Mercator projection), so the simple operation of projecting those perimeters onto a flat surface will introduce too much errors.

Do you have any idea about how to do that in order to mitigate errors?

Thank you!

Hi TheCADWhisperer,
thank you for your reply! I'm able to confirm the correct procedure:

Export from Fusion360 the desired surface into an STL file (it is not necessary to export from a body.)

Open the free software "Meshmixer" ( http://www.meshmixer.com ) and import the STL.

Use "Edit - Unwrap" function to flatten the surface, delete the source surface and export the obtained flat surface(s) into the desired format (ex. SVG.)

Anyway it's a pity the lack of these functionalities in F360!
