You may need to attach your Fusion 360 file to the thread, for Autodesk to inspect.

I am having difficulty Exporting DXF files. I am converting a design to DXF and to OBJ and exporting them to VCarve.

The OBJ opens perfectly in inches. The DXF opens in Metric. Not being sure if there was an issue with VCarve, I opened the DXF file using Fusion and the units were in metric. Since both files originated from the same design in inches, I am not sure where the issue lies. I have checked the units in the tree to make sure they are in Inches. My preferences also show everything in Inches. Cant figure out why the conversion to OBJ is fine, but the DXF opens in CM.

Any help would be appreciated.

Open the dxf in notepad (or other word processor) and verify the units. Here's a link to the dxf specifications.

Inches:

Thank you for your advise.

I opened the DXF file in Notepad like you suggested.

It shows the following...

$INSUNITS

70

5

9

The units exported from Fusion appear to be in CM.

There must be a setting somewhere I am missing.

This at least tells me that VCarve is opening the file correctly. Thats half of the battle I guess.

The search continues.

Cant thank you enough.

Chris

I'm attaching a test pattern.

There has got to be a setting I have wrong, just need to find it.

Grateful for your advise.

Chris

Exporting the file as a dxf from the file menu, the units in the dxf are centimeters even though the units are set to inches.

Saving the sketch as a dxf from the Browser works as expected. When units are inches, the dxf is exported with the units set to inches.
