Hi All,

I am new to fusion 360 and got stuck while trying to combine two bodies (one of them is just a surface) in sculpting environment. The idea is to create something resembling CPR mask with cushion like bottom part and the actual mask (the half spherical surface) coming out of that cushion-> pictures below). However, no matter what I try (tried aligning them, bridging, merging) or changing them to components and combining them, it does not do what I want it to do. I would appreciate any tips how to overcome this (or any suggestions how it could be done more easily). Thank you so much in advance!

Thicken mask in sculpt environment. Then exit sculpt and combine solids.

Thanks a lot, very appreciated!,it has helped to combine the bodies, however I am having issues with modifying the new body even in direct modelling mode, any ideas how I can deal with it?

Do you mean you are trying to make modifications after you exit sculpt?

If so, you have to understand once you exit sculpt you are now in the parametric CAD environment, so all of those T-spline edits you were able to make are no longer available to you. At this point you have to use traditional CAD operations.

Can you give an idea of what you're trying to do?

Thank you for great explanation and your help (I literally just started using fusion 360 so I am learning what I can and cannot do there) 😉 I combined two bodies but then realized I wanted to make some changes to the shape of the mask and makes sense that I cannot do it back in sculpting workspace, however I thought that direct modellingwould be the answer, but doesn't seem so.

There is a fatal error in what you just said, being new to Fusion,

going to Direct Modelling with a history model, (history modelling is required for sculpting) removes the timeline and therefore you can’t return to the Sculpt area to edit the sculpted body. You would have received a generic warning, but this is what it means.

But with history retained, you can return to the sculpted body and continue tweaking, with right click Edit on the purple icon in the Timeline...

You might feel that you've this sorted and it might wok for your purpose. However, if you can post your model ad describe with images what you want to accomplish I might be able to show alternate methods.

Combining T-Splines and solids might work for you for this model, but often is really not a good idea.

Above is the initial model I created (I don't have access to the final model at the moment), but basically the idea was to merge two bodies together, the cushion (that doughnut like shape) and that half spherical shape so it looks something like cpr mask below :

I modelled the cushion and the actual mask by creating forms and then modelling them, theadded thickness to the mask and converted them to components to combine them together. It worked ok, but I still have to work on the model by creating a valve etc so I actually would be very grateful for any advice regarding how it could be done better/more easily.
