I've been at this now for almost a day! I'm trying to shell out my USB/SD card holder, but can't get any thicker than 0.9mm which is way too thin for 3d printing. I only get error "Try adjusting the values or changing the input geometry".

Any ideas to what this newbie is doing wrong?

Kind regards

PM

Hey @moller.g.peter ,

This is my assumption based on what I can only see in your video.

There are some very narrow areas which can limit how much thickness it can give you. It seems your model is too small for the thickness that you want.

If you attach the .f3d file, then I'll be able to check exactly where is the problem.

Cheers / Ben
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you find this reply helpful?

Yep, this corner is growing until it can't, the slots are stopping the thicken.

I have ticked the lower area, because that fills and is not an interrupted face.

Shelling, offsets and thickening are cad operations that are not as simple as they sound. Especially for someone new to cad.

What you can do is a manual shell. Which Is often required. Build a body inside your main body manually and then combine the two solids with the new body cutting into the original body leaving a hollow shell.

Hi Beyondforce!

I've attached the .f3d file for you to check out, but I've suspected all the time what davebYYPCU said, that one corner has grown to its maximum and therefore F360 won't allow the rest to grow, sadly.

Sorry for not being clear in my first post, but my plan is to have the hollow section as a storage compartment (how to construct and utilize it is still progress...brain cells spinning in full motion), so having real supports printed instead of 10-20% infill makes less of a mess to remove, hence me wanted a thicker hollow body so it can stand by itself.

Ok, I just discovered something. There is an "Press/pull" option which I tried, and it worked!....at least what it looks like. Not sure if this is the right way to go.

The lower row of pockets, in the Sketch 10 can be realigned so as to result in a counter clockwise roll down, and allow the thicken to proceed. (Result)
