Hello

I have been having an issue with a mesh file that I have been working on.

I imported a PNG photo of my grand daughter using the image 2 surface add on in fusion. The first thing I noticed is "Warning mesh not closed", I then tried to run the repair mesh command in fusion....It just seems to destroy all the features of the mesh file, it appears to be a smooth plate after running that command, I tried all the various repair options but basically nothing seems to help fix the open mesh.

The other thing that I am trying to do is add volume to the back side so that I can create a plaque for 3d printing, about .200" thick to be hung on a wall. It appears that I could possibly print the file as it is now but it will be paper thin and doubt that it will be printable. I did try the thicken command as well as extrude, but I am having zero luck with that as well.

I an fairly new to Fusion and this is my first attempt at working with meshes, so I do not know if there is any way to enhance the detail of what I am seeing with the results so far? I have been working with this file now for a week, It's getting really frustrating for an old timer.

If needed, I could try to attach a copy of the PNG image here if that would help... I am not sure if that would be possible to do tho. There are 5-6 more that I plan to do if I can get through this first one.

I want to thank every one in advance for any help that you may offer.

Thank you

You will be able to use Fusion for this work, if you manage to create the Mesh file as obj and using quad (4 sided) faces.

In Fusion - convert that Mesh to T=spline, which will save as a Surface body.

Might help...

Attached you will find a solid body with the relief on one side from your mesh. A flat mesh, like yours does not enclose any volume so the "Open Mesh" notice is to be expected. I hope you know how to retrieve an attached file. Simply left click on the small down arrow beside the file and save to a folder of your choice on your hard drive. I created an Animated GIF using your Attached file for example.

Thank you for some help with the issue, however I do not remember seeing any of those commands....obj. t-spline.... 4 sided quad etc. , its sounding way above my pay grade at the moment.

If you have time would you be able to expand on that? At my age new things take a long time to soak in between my ears.

Thank you for the responce.
