Hi,

I am going to add a texture keeping the outer measurements of the shapes. I changed the profile and it works fine using the sweep command/loft command but I can't get the ends right. I assume I should try to elongate the centreline (for the ring) and the path+rail (for the U shape) following the half sphere but can't figure out how to. Please see images on where I am stuck and also desired look on ends.

The continues shape (without ends) won't loft even though I have projected intersected points to make sure all curves are touching the profiles. Any advice on this? Image attached.

Many thanks,

Sofia

Aside form the online image viewer function being broken at the moment, it is usually much better to embed images into a post instead of attaching them.

That can easily be active using the large camera button in the menu bar above the text field in the post editing dialogue:

you might have to do the ends as a series of lofts, rather than a single loft.

However, I would be tempted to do this as a Form/T-Spline body. It seems pretty well suited to this kind of shape.

Please ignore the question regarding the closed shape, was just a matter of keep trying and rebuilding the same thing.

So for the u-shape I would think the best would be to have one rail going inside the half sphere and the other on the outside of the half sphere meeting at a point (both being connected to the other rails ) before doing the loft/sweep and similar for the other open shape. But can’t figure out how to make those rails..

All best,

Sofia

Beautiful hand sketches!

I think I would model this as a T-Spline and probably also star with the model in Blender. In Blender I would model this as a straight piece and then use a curve modifier to bend it into shape.

Is there no way to extend the rails?

Kind Regards,

Sofia

Looks like I totally dropped the ball on this thread.

I did this by tinkering around in Blender for maybe 30-45 minutes.

Imported into FUoisn 360 as a quad mesh, converted to T-Splines and rendered.
