Hi There,

Is this the correct way to create a loft around a circle?

Wanted to create a outer circle on a circle. Starting at zero height to about 10mm. I used a loft. Starting on a plane with profile almost zero and on another plane a profile about 10mm. Created a loft between them with centerline of the circle sketch.

Added the file just to show what I did. Suggestions if there are other ways or this is the way to go.

That's the way I would do it too.

Although, there is no need to make the lower end slightly above the disk. You can have it ramp all the way down. Just make your rectangular profiles some thickness down into the disk material, since you're going to use the Join condition anyway, it doesn't matter if they overlap some.

You could also use the Coil command, or the Sweep command in Surface workspace.

Great idea. Never thought that should work. For me it's difficult to position it right on the circle. The start point of the coil is always on top. For my application it's a little of centered. Can be done but loft gives for this application little more control. If the bottom shell is not that wide you also need to split bodies. Thank you for showing this alternative.

What does the mating part look like?

If it is what I think it is - I would wager that not modeled correctly.

This could be more complex geometry that initially thought.
