Ah, strange. I was picking the inside lines where my sketch met a point and that didn't work. I picked the other inside line and I was able to select multiple lines. I don't get that.

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

Below is a screenshot of my current situation. I am happy to sketch differently. I haven't gotten too far.

I need to make the rabbet cut shown below around the entire piece. I'm not sure how to do this parametrically such that I can change one side and it will change the entire piece.

I've looked into using 'paths' for the extrude, but a bit confused about implementing. I've thought about using an offset plane and extruding downwards, but not sure how to offset the sketch. I've looked into Project, but I don't seem to use that correctly...

I'll continue trying things in the meantime.

Screenshot:

if the object is planer with a consistent depth (as I would expect from a picture frame) then sweep would be one easy way.

I tried this, but I'm not allowed select more than just the face perpendicular to my sketch..

See screenshot below:

Sweep needs two sketches, one for the path, and one for the cross section L shape.

Extrude needs three sketched paths, select the outside ring for the tall leg, select the inside ring for the short leg, and join them.

Either way you have not mentioned which way to cut the corners, (if required).

Might help....

sometimes you have to hold down the ctrl button while selecting the path. here's your model back. all I added was the sweep command. I used your original geometry for input.

Just as an alternative...if the desired geometry is suitable, you could just extrude it.

Sorry this video is so long, I make some stupid sketch mistakes and then have a brain fart about fixing them for a minute.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/64a68d53-700f-4e62-97d5-17605a9bb1db
