Circular Pattern Not Working Properly

Hi guys,

This is my first post, so hopefully I'm doing this right.

I'm trying to use the circular pattern to copy a loft around an axis, but only a few of them show up. See the attached screencast for a better explanation. I think the video clearly shows the issue.

Any suggestions?

1. try faces instead of features

2. try compute options identical & optimized

I did try all of those things with no success. The feature failed completely. But thank you for the suggestions.

I'm hesitant to send the part as it is proprietary. I'll try to remove some internal feature today and send it again.

And thank you to @jhackney1972 for pointing out that my Screencast did not load.

This is not a disparagement at all. I'm just curious.

Why are people are reluctant to share a model that is "proprietary" when it's only half completed anyway. I mean, with a half-completed part, and no context about what it might be for, what intellectual property is it that we might steal?

Just strikes me as odd is all.

I hear your point and I agree.

I guess I'm just reluctant to have to explain to a customer or manager (who doesn't always understand how CAD works) that what I'm sharing does not divulge anything about what we're working on.

I understand not posting proprietary work in a public forum.

But what I always say is, "You should be able to make up a simple dummy file that exhibits the same behavior as your proprietary work." Frequently in the process of generating this dummy file to try to illustrate the base issue - the OP comes across a solution on their own.

I often suggest - forget the easy stuff.

Do the hard stuff first, if you can't do it, then the easy stuff doesn't matter.

My WAG suggestion: Revolve an angle of the total. Create the Loft features. Pattern Bodies rather than feature.

Combine. Then finish the easy stuff.

BTW: I strongly suspect there is a better technique than Loft. First guidance I look for is - how will this feature be manufactured. I guess if only 3D printed, then Loft doesn't matter...

More guess work-

in your screen cast it looked like loft 2 worked when you did it by itself, is that right?

try rolling time line back to just before the first loft, and doing a pattern on it from that point in time. Does that work?

@TheCADWhisperer , I essentially did what you suggested. I finished both lofts the way I wanted, cut the whole body to leave only 1/10th (the feature patterns every 36°) then patterned the body and combined all the bodies to form a solid.

I also understand your comment on the manufacturing technique. This part will get milled/turned on a CNC. This is kind of a reverse-engineering project, so I'm building the shape based on 2D drawings. If you think something would work better than a loft, I'm all ears.

Good suggesting @laughingcreek however, only one of the lofts worked on its own.
