Hello,

I am trying to extrude text on a conical surface.

The sketch of the text is flat so the text extrude looks like a flat projection, rather than curved projection.

how can I do a curved extrude of text on frustum surface?

Hi

Thanks for posting. I know this is a drawback for us that fusion 360 doesn't have Wrap features. Also, you may find some tutorials who does this wrap by sheetmetal. But, here is a simple way for you (but lengthy). It applies to almost every curved surface (sheet metal way doesn't). Watch my screencast I discribed that there. For taking less time, I just worked on ABC.

https://autode.sk/2UMWwDu

It doesn't seem like projecting and extruding on surface will be a curved projection. The letter are projected in the surface flat. But thickening the surface extrudes in a curved format. I will go with the link in message 2 for my design.

Any ways thanks for the help @MoshiurRashid.

The method in presented in the first video still warps and stretches the letters when the part gets bent, particularly at the bottom. Here's a video that's shows a way more complicated approach, but it's pretty clever. It results in letters that are truly wrapped to the surface with out distortion.

Hi,

...I'm putting a procedure in the round here, as I prefer to do.

I create the text (graphics) externally in Inkscape.
The procedure:
1. create and unfold the conical body as a sheet metal construction
2. projection of the body contour into a sketch
3. sketching the path in relation to the body contour
4. export (DXF) and import into Inkscape
5. create text and combine with imported path
6. editing the font on the path
7. converting object to path
8. save the text as SVG
9. import into Fusion & position on the flat plate
10. extrusion with join to sheet
11. Refold

Ready

Further options I have omitted here but can be seen in the file.

günther

Screencast
