Bug in "Manage Lost Projections"

The interface for Manage Lost Projections has some issues.
This happens occasionally:
I edited some features upstream, removing a face that was projected in a sketch. Of course this created an error, but when I use Manage Lost Projections to delete the geometry, it fails. Pressing the button or using the "delete all" option, break link, etc. does not work and the red outline and sketch error persists.
There is no other way to delete this phantom geometry. I must simply accept the warning for the sketch or completely remake the sketch and repair inevitable downstream errors.

Secondly, I'd like to mention that the Manage Lost Projections interface should allow "re-re-linking" of successfully (but improperly) re-linked geometry. Simply don't grey out the "re-link" button after I successfully re-link geometry. in the current state, if I re-link to the wrong line/face/etc., I have to close out of the interface and reopen it, losing whatever progress I had made.

Thanks

I am getting this issue too

Here is a project which exhibits this issue:

https://a360.co/2B7U1pj

To repro the bug:

Delete the extrude that is named "DELETE THIS TO CAUSE BUG" (6th extrude)

The sketch "VTx holder" will then have a lost projection

Try to delete the lost projection using the tool, it will not delete

Also notice that if you go into that sketch BEFORE you delete the extrude, there is no projection
There USED to be a projection, but I deleted it, so it seems that the bug is something to do with deleted projections not properly being deleted

Update:

I think I may know what causes it.

I projected a face into a sketch.

I then deleted all but one of the lines that made up the face.

Later, I then deleted the remaining line that made up the face, leaving no elements of the face in the sketch

However it still thinks the face is projected into the sketch

Confirmed, it's VERY simple to repro this bug

Create a sketch

Draw a rectangle

Extrude the rectangle

create another sketch on a plane perpendicular to the first sketch

Project the face of the extruded rectangle into the sketch - use one of the faces that is perpendicular to the sketch, such that only two lines are projected

Save sketch

Edit the second sketch, delete all projections

Save sketch

Delete the extrusion

Bug occurs - second sketch has un-deletable lost projections

Basically, as far as I can tell, the issue is caused because you project a face of four sides, but because the sketch is perpendicular to the object, only two lines get projected (All good so far).

I guess there is some code that works out whether the face has been deleted, but it checks whether FOUR lines were deleted, when only TWO ever existed.

I cannot speak to the OP's model, but what user @evilc is describing is not a bug.

He simply has not paid attention to what the warning message actually says. When the extrusion is deleted, what is lost is the sketch plane. At least following his screencast and the verbal description.

I resurrected this topic, sorry.

I can confirm this bug. It happened to me now. I resolved lost projections the same way but warning is still there.

Reproduction steps are the same but sketch plane is not the object face so it will exist.

I think, These bug warnings are these two named "Project1" and "Project2" under the warning you mentioned (that one will not be present). My sketch with bugs had different projections of course but I can recreate this bug with a little modification I mentioned.

A simple demonstration of the bug... It is not possible to remove warning from the sketch without use of another bug (for example, by use of redefining sketch plane bug to destroy projection links).

EDIT: Selected screencast appearently was not included into a post.
https://autode.sk/3g8SMXX

1. As an Autodesk Expert Elite, I am a customer, not an Autodesk Employee.

2. I don't see a bug in your file. If you delete the object you sketched on, then a warning will appear in the timeline. The correct action would be to use the undo button and not ignore the warning. If you don't have the wherewithal to do so and ignore the warning that isn't a problem with the software, that is a user error.

The warning is 100% accurate. You deleted a face that was used to sketch on.

I'm not sure I would completely agree with you on that trippy. If I see an error in a sketch, I would expect to be able to use the lost projections dialog to clear that error. I'm mean, what if after creating the sketch, I realize I don't need that extrude or the line projected from it and want to delete it? I have to remember to go delete the line from the sketch before deleting the extrude? and if I don't catch the error immediately I have to delete the entire sketch and make a new one just to clear the error? no, "manage lost projections" should be able to clear something like this, IMHO.

Sorry, I thought you are an Autodesk employee or someone who manages these topics. I am still new here.

Sketch 2 is not broken, just the link is lost and can be assigned again, removed or the projected object can be deleted. This is not a user error but inevitable action when you refactor or modify a project. Yes, I deleted the extrusion but this can happen even when you edit some parameter value and this problem can not be solved without an option to repair or delete a link. I solved this by selecting "delete projected object" but the warning is still here but the problem is solved with dialog made for this situation. Fusion 360 still thinks there is a problem even when the problem does not exist. Apparently, this problem can't be solved even when there is a dialog to do it. Simply...

Expected action by selecting "delete projected object" - the projected object is deleted and the broken link is solved and no warning anymore.

What happened was that I chose "delete projected object" - the broken link doesn't exist anymore but the warning is still here and can't be resolved.

I am not even sure this is recognized as a bug. I don't see any participation of AD in this thread. @Phil.E @jeff_strater could you look at this?
