Fixing Cached Information

In the attached drawing, two sketches indicate that they are using cached information. I have tried numerous times to fix these. So far no luck. I find it very difficult to locate the problem. Any ideas as to how to systematically fix these?

Hi,

The issue is that you have lost the link to the projected point in the centre left. The yellow circle.

Right click on it and bring up Manage Lost Projections.

Either re-create the link, delete it or break the link.

And the second issue is that you are also trying to project this same missing link.

If you fix it in the first one it will probably clear the second one, or you will just have to re-establish it.

Thanks for your quick response!

I used the manage lost projections and broke the links. From what I can see, all is well.

If I am understanding this correctly, I was referencing something that was no longer there. I do not understand why breaking the link solves the problem. How is Fusion locating the point now that I broke the link?

Hi,

That is what threw the error. Fusion keeps caches of information in the background. After you removed the original

projection there was a mis-match between what was actually there and what fusion thought should be there. The

software could not match up what was in the cache with what was there, hence the error. There is a difference

between the yellow warnings and the red errors. Fusion threw the yellow error because it didn't make a difference to

the end result and was telling you about the discrepancy. If the issue broke the model, like if that particular

projection was the only defined point in the sketch, then it would have thrown a red error instead.

Not all yellow warnings are game breakers, but there are enough that are that the forum recommends to fix them

ALL as they happen.

You may also notice that by breaking the link, you now might have a random point in the sketch that is undefined

because it is just hanging in space. If you had deleted it the point will disappear and leave the sketch defined as

normal.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. If I understand you correctly, then there is really no problem associated with breaking the link. Furthermore, it is better to get rid of the cache error than just leaving them?

Hi,

If the projected point exists and is not needed then breaking the link is fine. If the projected point does not exist

then removing the link is better. It is subtle but logically makes sense and is less likely to cause problems down the

track. ALWAYS get rid of any yellow or red flags in the timeline. While some make no difference, some can completely

trash a design and make it unrecoverable.
