hello - in my attached file I am trying to draw a row of rivets on the side of the smokebox I have created. I have successfully used "pattern on a path" on the front but it will not work on a side.

The offset tool will not pick up the edge. I think that the problem is compounded by the fact that my shape lacks integrity. By this I mean the surfaces are not joined.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

here is one way to attack this. Copy the outline of the face in the sketch, paste, and translate in the sketch Z direction. Use that as a path. Copy/paste one of the rivet bodies to the start of the path (pattern on path works much better when the path start is near the object). Pattern on path whatever number of bodies you want, then Remove the original body.

Your component structure is a bit odd - do you really want all the rivets to be in one component, with lots of bodies? It works, certainly, but probably doesn't reflect the actual structure. Anyway, I left that as is, and just followed the configuration you started with.

even easier to add to the original pattern, like in the attached.
