I am preparing a design for milling and need to remove the hardware.

In the Edit Derive, expanding and selecting and excluding for 100+ hardware components is really not an option. Unfortunately, making a "container component" for the hardware to make the selection easier is not either.

I see real performance improvements when using derived models in the manufacturing space. Will be using the arrange and nest features. See demo video.

Is there a quicky way?
Or another workflow all together?

Thank You 🙌

Additional Info:
My old workflow was to use Select by Name and hide my hardware. The speed in which I can exclude using Select by Name is awesome so it is a step backwards to make those same exclusions so tedious in the Edit Derive.

I know that during Nest Preparation, Fusion can automatically find parts to be nested resulting in excluding hardware components. But sometimes those hardware components slip by and produce nests and packaging for the hardware.

I'd really prefer to do this hardware purge one time. It seems like the derive is the place to do it.

<video-js data-video-id="6364274926112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)

Thanks for your reply but clicking through a 100 plus components is not an option.

There has to be a better way to filter your selection.

It's very easy to select by name and hide the hardware.

Then what I see in the canvas is what I need manufactured. When I do a window selection with filter for components only. I unfortunately get the components which include the nested hardware which are hidden. Which I don't want to pass through to the derive. So......

When it comes to doing a window selection in the canvas I really need to filter the selection for leaf components.

then, with thardware still selected, go tinto the @tookemtoni wrote:

It's very easy to select by name and hide the hardware.

I assume that you are selecting the hardware by name and then hiding it. Here's a suggestion that may or may not work,

Once the hardware is selected for good measure, create a selection set for it.

With the hardware still selected, go into the selection tools again and choose "invert selection" again. In theory that should work, but I've seen this fail as well.

If it fails in your case as well—with fail, I also mean selecting something it shouldn't—then let's report it.
Again, tagging @karina.harper.

Hi, See demo video.

Basically I think I'm dreaming of something that doesn't exist .

The derive feature is most powerful when you select the root design and make exclusions. But unfortunately the feature is nerfed for large assemblies because the there's quick and safe way filter selections within the derive dialog box.

That would be awesome.

<video-js data-video-id="6365329936112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)
