Problems with complex model

Hi,

I have problems working with complex model consisting of rectangular pattern of 30x45 simpler bodies combined into one single body. My Mac stalls, becomes irresponsive for many minutes, then starts working, and so on. The simplest model manipulation takes minutes. What is wrong ?

I checked the RAM status, Fusion360 occupies ca. 14 GB with this model.

I am working on Mac Mini, 16 GB RAM, 4-core I5, 3 GHz. What is the best strategy to optimise performance with big number of bodies/complicated body ?

what type of pattern are you using? Are you doing a Body pattern, followed by a Combine? Try patterning Faces or Features (set to Optimized). But, 30x45 will generate a LOT of geometry no matter how you do it. Even if you are patterning a cube, that's going to generate 8100 faces. If this pattern is really necessary to your design, you will have to just live with the slowness, or, if you know that this pattern is one you will have to generate only once and never need to edit again, you could consider doing it in a direct modeling/base body.

I need to make optimisation process on my models, so my work will be lots of changes to this complex pattern...

Maybe I need to buy faster machine ??? What is the reasonable setup ? (I am currently using Mac mini 16 GB RAM,

2,3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7,

Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB.

A faster machine will help incrementally, but that will only get you so far. With a pattern that big, no matter what hardware you throw at it, it will likely be painful. If you can keep most of your edits downstream of the pattern, that will help. Also, you didn't mention what type of pattern you were using. That can make a big difference. For feature patterns, Adjust can be up to 10 times slower than optimized...
