I did exactly that, I offset the plane plane was at an angle, but when I tried to project the ellipses, my circle drawing on the plane didn’t align properly.

I’ll give it another go soon!

Hello, I'm making a nightlight with a removable top so the user can remove the lightbulb etc etc.
I offset the circle, then projected to create the top face.

I then drafted the cylinder @ 15 deg. and attempted to join the two together to see how they fit, and I noticed the sizing got a little wonky and it doesn't fit edge to edge.
When I drafted the cylinder and then project circle to create the top face, I noticed I cannot successfully create a top cap from the projected circles as they're now elliptical.

I've added the file with bodies, and also a screenshot with a section view showing my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

You just need to select the correct sketch plane. Use the top angled lip of the can as your sketch plane, then it is all standard processes. I still have some issues as I did not cut the lip to match the can side wall but you get the idea of where to start. Cut a section through it and you will see my point. My modified model by a different name is attached. I made up some dimensions for thickness, lip cut and fillet.

I tried to use a Sweep to make a lid that fits from the Z axis. I'm not sure if this shape is possible to your intent though.

Screencast.

Here is the model with the lip cut to fit the can. The only problem is that it will fit only in one position because it is not round.

Create you sketch on the lip, forget creating another plane, it is not needed unless you want the body to be up in the air.
