I imported an SVG file and I was able to extrude it and place it over a body. How do I join them? If I try and save STL from the body the extruded SVG doesn't show up, only the body.

I think you need, (If move is needed at all)

Create Component. Activate it.

Import SVG

Extrude from SVG.

If you Move / Joint the component, the sketch and body will both go - tied to the component.

Might help...

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for posting! I just want to add you can use the Combine tool, and if your extruded SVG does not touch or intersect the target body - you may need to extend your extrusion.

You can refer to the video:

Thanks for the input. I'll have to look at it when I get home. I did watch the little video. I know in mine at home the SVG file remains as an SVG and it is not a body. So I am not sure if that method will work, but I'll try. If i recall correctly when I brought the SVG in I did insert > and selected the face of the body I wanted on. I might have done it differently but I think that's how I did it. I know if I toggle the body visibility off (or the SVG) independent of one or another the other remains visible.

I'll check some of the stuff mentioned out when I get home - thanks for the input.

Hi,

The extrusion of the SVG must either start directly (Profile Plane) from a body surface or with the option (from Body) or lead to it (to Body).

günther

I'm somewhat confused about what your asking to do. pics and models help a lot when trying to communicate questions.

It sounds like you are asking for the SVG line art to be in the exported .stl file. .stl files will only contain mesh data needed to define the body. line art and sketches are not included in that type of file.

I will clarify once I get home and have some time to post the files and try what has been mentioned. I am trying to export it all as a body to 3d print. As of now I imported the SVG, extruded it (at some point - either before or after I placed it on a body) but it remains a separate entity. I am trying to make it all one so I can export the STL and project its entirety to 3D print.
