You should start with properly constraining and dimensioning sketches. Then we can talk about chamfers.
As a beginner you should turn the timeline on.

I see. Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, I tend to learn as I go and don't always do things properly. I'll look into the constraints and dimensions that you mentioned.

Thanks for the link and I appreciate the help. For the most part I've defined the sketch pretty well now. But I'm not able to get the spline to be defined. I've dimensioned it but it still stays blue.

Multiple issues here:

1. No new file Attached.

2. Imagine one of these points was your house and someone asked for your address to locate the house. Where is you house? An undefined location in space.

3. As a beginner (and generally for pros too) I would recommend that you use tangent arcs rather than splines for geometry like this. (With splines - we also have to define weighted handles at the point locations.)

I apologize for not attaching the updated file.

Do I need to define the individual green handles or just each black point? I'm more familiar with bezier curves and the like as far as drawing is concerned, so that's why I gravitated to the spline. This drawing/design is rather fluid so I like the ability to adjust the spline as needed.

Thanks again for your responses.

I gave this spline tangent handle a horizontal constraint so the transition between the two halves is tangent:

Then I did the same for this spline, so the geometry of the handle flows into the frame tangent to top and bottom surface:

Then the chamfer works:

I noticed that you mirrored a lot of geometry.

I almost never do this, if I want symmetry, I add Symmetric constraint.

Mirror results in, for example, two lines where a single line will suffice. KISS principle applies here.

With single spline - I don't need to define the handle weights and angles (but of course that can be done if desired/needed).

(See Attached)

I layout the spline points and then sketch the spline snapping to point layout.

Wow, thanks for doing that.

Yes, I was mirroring most things. I'll give the symmetry constraint a shot and also try out the spline method you've outlined. We'll see if I can reproduce what you've done.

Anyway, I have a youtube channel myself (woodworking). If you ever need tips on the topic, I would be happy to help where I can!

-John
