Use this menu item to renumber balloons-

If you right click and edit the properties of your component, you can add a part number, part name (the name is what will be in the browser tree), and a description. You can have any or none of these be a column in the BOM table

Hi,

Balloons

Title is pretty descriptive. I deleted an empty component place holder I no longer needed. Well, I guess that screws up all my balloons now. I can't find a way to re-number the balloons with the new number of components. I'm stuck with balloons 1 thru 10, except I'm missing number 5.

Table

I prefer to name my components on the dwg a meaningful name. The table pulls that component name and calls it a Part Number. I'd prefer if my model could be informal and save the formalities for the 2D drawings.

Overall

I think it's nice that Fusion gives a first go at Balloon Numbers, Descriptions, and Part Numbers. But my patience stops when I can't correct the errors....

I hope I missed something and I am able to edit balloon numbers and tables.

I'm also confused on the Quantity...

How does the software assume qty? It doesn't seem to use number of bodies. I made each component such that they covered all the bodies of the exact same. For example, if you had a fence and every 4x4 post was the same length, I would have made all the 4x4 posts under one component (multiple bodies under one component). This ensures I get one balloon number for all the posts (correct), but then the table says qty 1 (incorrect). If I gave each post a different component, then the table would give each post a different balloon number (incorrect), but the total quantities would be correct if you added them up.

This wouldn't be a big deal, but Fusion does not allow any edits to the table.

Ah, I have to make multiple components with the same name. Then Fusion will understand that I have multiple quantities of the same part....

I'll try that... assuming that's going to screw up my balloon numbers though..

Thanks!

I did figure that out. But I'm still at a loss as what to do with the missing balloon number. I think the software is using the timeline logic to basically keep track of where the components are. So if one gets deleted, the software doesn't seem to have the ability to re-number the balloons. Much like how the user can't sort the list of components.

Is that correct?

-start the renumber tool

-click on the balloon of the component you want to start as number 1. The number in the balloon will change to 1

-click on the balloon of the component you want to be number 2. the number in the balloon will change to 2

-repeat for all components

the BOM table will resort itself to reflect the new numbers
