Can't Push/Pull feature on a circular pattern

I am trying to learn how to use Fusion 360 by doing the tutorial, but am stuck on trying to use Press Pull on the first tutorial. I have replicated 6 diameter objects and now need to extrude them for 6mm. The tutorial says that I should click select on the Press Pull dialog and click on the first object and then click on the second object, the Extrude Dialog appears and says 2 objects selected. I have managed to select 3 objects, but when I click on the forth object the selected box changes to one object selected. When I select the second object the base diameter turns blue, I don't think that it should do that! (see picture attached)

What am I doing wrong?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Also indicate the link to the particular tutorial that you are attempting to follow.

Hi,

1. there is only 1 circle > ok

2. Extrude it to 6 mm

3. create a circular pattern with 6 instances

Yes that way works! Why does the tutorial explain it the other way i.e. Create the circular pattern then extrude.

Someone should alter the tutorial!

I seem to have originally chosen the wrong axis. Can I change it?

You can change the axis by editing the feature and selecting a new axis.

The structure of your file is one of the reasons I wanted to see the tutorial itself. There are a lot of tutorials out there, of varying quality. Many show approaches that wouldn't be suggested by a lot of us on this forum.

The problem is you selected the centre point of the circle not the circle! Think this is the tutorial here.

The images in the tutorial are wrong which doesn't help. In the first image it shows the circle selected but in the last it only shows centre points!

Should actually look like this. @Phil.E This could do with fixing.

it's interesting that the party line from AD is to pattern in the design workspace, instead of pattering sketch entities, and here is a basic tutorial that patterns sketch entities.

Hi,

For me it remains to be said that in the mentioned tutorial without a doubt something went wrong.

Therefore it is necessary to replace it with an accordingly corrected one.

@HughesTooling Thanks for pointing this out, sent to the team that handles tutorial content. They are busy replacing older content and these sort of issues are welcome.

Please post any time you find something confusing or incorrect in the tutorials. (don't worry about old UI stuff, we are aware of all those)
