Hi,

I've been attempting to use the Draft function to create bevelled outer walls for these cookie cutters. I have problems with it allowing me to create the 5 degree draft on certain faces. One, in particular, it either refuses to draft or it creates a tiny 'lip of a bevilled edge that I didn't expect, and the rest of the face is still straight.

I'm expecting this to be entirely user error as I'm new to using this app. Appreciate any help!

section before Draft appliedSelected face<span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline" image-alt="the Draft that occurs creating a new face.

the original line work was created in adobe illustrator then imported as an SVG file into Fusion. I notice that the walls have a lot of faces too, which maybe is an issue? but I don't know how to merge them into 1 continuous smooth surface, or if that even matters? Ive attached the file as requested.

I really appreciate your help!

Your curves a a lot of "near tangency" conditions between just about every line segment. this eats fusion lunch. It's also very common to see this in curves imported from illustrator. Here is a zebra analysis of the extrusion. the breaks in the stripes indicates face transitions that aren't tangent.

I would suggest redrawing these curves in fusion. The first sketch should be the actual cutout shape. as in the inside surface that actually cuts the perimeter of the cookie. everything else will get created in reference to that shape.

If your interested we can walk you thru this, but first I also going to suggest going to your preferences and making sure these are de-selected.-

after that, create a new drawing and take a stab at making just the profile shape and post it here. you can import the original curve first and use it as a visual reference, but have it on a different sketch and don't constrain to it.

then post it here.

Two weeks later I finally had time to sit down and learn how to trace and create one from scratch directly in Fusion360. @laughingcreek thanks to your help, I learnt a lot and I think I began to get the hang of it too.
