Hi,

So I am starting to use the named dimensions on the fly feature. I find that it is going into the Model Parameter section. Good for naming that, bad that it does not become available for using that on another dimension. I guess that only the User dimensions are available that can be used by starting to type a character. I agree all the d## dimensions should not be shown, but it would be nice to have a list of any other dimension names.

I think it was over on the API forum but @prainsberry posted the code for an add-in to automatically favorite named dimensions. I've been using it and it works great so far. I will try to find the link to the thread.

Regards,

@ritste20 script probably would be nice but I did a Screencast to show you that on-the-fly typed in parameters are available to use in other sketches by typing the complete parameter name. If you make these typed in parameters favorites, then all you have to type is one character. Probably that is what the script does, automatically changes typed in parameters to Favorites.

The add-in I got from prainsberry runs in the background so it automatically adds to the favorites. That way I only have to type a single letter to get the dropdown with named parameters.

Call me lazy but it's easier to just remember how I started the name instead of the whole thing because sometimes I will group named dimensions by what they apply to. Several parameters may have the same prefix in a given design.

Regards,
