Modify/Combine/Cut multiple bodies How To?

Don't know if I am doing something wrong.

Want to Cut multiple Target Bodies with one.
I can't select multiple target bodies (to be cut) I must do them one by one.

Takes soooooooo much time 😖

The Combine/Cut dialog has an option to select which bodies to cut:

No, you can't select multiple target bodies with the combine cut like you can with extrude cut.

Thank you for this, I know that, it's easy when is in the same path.

Function Combine gives you only one option for Target Body. In Target Body box you CAN NOT select multiple bodies.

Here is what I want to do: Select 4 yellow bodies, and cut them with one green.

Here is side view, you can see that one of those bodies is cut. I have everytime to select one by one.

I would use Split Body.

Split Body: Bodys to Split = yellow, Splitting tool = Face of green body
Set Select Priority = Body
Select unwanted bodies, right click and Remove

Or if flat faces on bottom of yellow bodies.

Extrude (Cut) Select bottom face of yellow bodies, Extent = To Object and Select face of green body.

Yeah, in this case it is easy, as there is a curve, to cut through, I used that for other things.

Sometimes those bodies are scattered around and not in the same line/curve/plane path what can be used, to Slice.

So, the question stays - Why we can NOT select multiple Target Body in Combine/Cut operation?

I wanted to chime in with the same issue. I searched the forums and web and couldn't find an answer to my question. Feels like I must be missing something as it seems like a common need for many people.

Maybe an different example will help spur assistance... I want to cut out the impression of a sphere from all 144 pillars, without selecting each body one by one. What is the best way to do so?

If a sphere is the desired shape I'd cut with the Revolve feature.

Hi,

1. create a grid in X/Y in the sketch
2. extrude the whole body and cut out the sphere profile with Combine Cut
3. cut with Split Body first with all cutting lines in X and then in Y direction

Thank you both! The Revolve worked great for this instance but as OP brought up, is there no general solution to cutting multiple bodies from a single complex body at once? I feel it would consistently come in hand when modeling molds and other tools.

Not sure if this is answer you were hoping for or not but I found that by breaking the link I was able to cut all the bodies I want. It kind of makes sense... So in other modeling software you can make a cut in an assembly and force that cut geometry back to the parent file to save that change. This comes in really handy when you want to make an assembly, cut the parts and then lay the parts out to out all your individual pieces. In this case, if the files are linked, it will not let you make a cut because then your assembly file would be different than your parent file. Or at least that's why I'm assuming. I've attached a picture where one of my models is underlined in red. You can see a chain looking icon next to the name. If you right click on that model and click "Break Link" you will be able to cut that body in your assembly. However, it won't send that geometry back to the parent model.

Want to chime in on this feature. Has been know since 2016 but still no movement(https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation-archived/select-more-than-one-target-body-combine-cut/idi-p/6552582).

Would love to see this implemented.

The fact we still can't cut multiple bodies with one tool with the combine method is ridiculous. I am having to try such bizarre workarounds for something that really should be quite simple and intuitive. Why this hasn't been implemented when so many people are asking about it is beyond me?

Completely ridiculous. I must have trimmed a design with extrude cut, and forgot. Last night I was losing my mind trying to do it over and over, thinking fusion was bugged out.
