Fusion 360 api create thumbnail wireframe

Hello All,

I use this method to create thumbnails of my components.

returnValue = component_var.createThumbnail(width, height, imageType)

I would also like to create thumbnails of my components, but then with visual style wireframe.

something like this:

Is this possible?

Unfortunately, the only way would be to change the render settings in Fusion, render it in the graphics window, and save the result. I don't know whether the underlying machinery the API uses to support createThumbnail supports the different rendering types, or whether the API just doesn't provide that option.

Hi Mr N.Michiels,

The wireframe effect can be achieved by applying an "air" (or similar) appearance to the component/body.

Changing the <Display Setting><Visual Styles> to <Wireframe> should produce a similar (if not identical) effect for the whole design.

A wireframe representation of organic bodies does not always produce a desirable outcome, though.

I also see an additional path: using direct script programming for component/body outlays.

Look at the sample in the API docs: "BRep Body definition Sample".

Proceed with it ... but only if you can resist insanity.
