Will there be any improvement in icon/toolbar resizing? This is a basic thing in most other CAD packages like Solidworks, Rhino, etc. The 'stock' icon size in toolbars is HUGE and a waste of working window real estate, especially on a laptop. Even allowing two sizes, small and large would be a huge improvement. If the drop down icons can be 16x16, why can't the toolbar?? In general, I find the UI in Fusion 360 to be an incredible waste of working screen space, would be nice to see this optimized. Please!

Is it possible to resize toolbars and pin them to locations on the screen? Can I select smaller Icons? Can I slide the edges of dialog boxes? Can I change text size? Can I pin toolbars and dialogs so they maintain their relative positions?

The resolution of my laptop screen currently causes toolbars and the browser dialog to consume an inordinately large portion of my workspace. Is there ANYTHING I can do to change this?

Here is a screen capture of what Fusion 360 looks like when I open the program. Can I get the toolbar and browser to stick to the top and left of the screen at least?

The main toolbar can only be docked at either the top or bottom. When you dock it at either location it should remember that from session to session. The browser can only be docked to the left or right and should also remember its position between sessions. In your picture it looks like both of them are floating. Have you docked them and then they become floating? If you have a low resolution screen Fusion will automatically begin hiding commands in the toolbar so that it can fit.

I've tried to dock them, but they do not seem to stick between sessions. Perhaps I'm not performing the dock correctly? How exactly is it accomplished? I drag them to where I want them, but don't see any indication that they will stick there. What am I missing?

As you're dragging the toolbar, the browser, or any dialog, you should see a bold green line displayed when you've dragged it over a valid docking area. If you drop it while the green line is displayed it will be docked.

@ekinsb

hi, what about the other questions: can we change the size of icons, text size or make it double row like shown on the screenshot of the 20. June update summary here:

when i drag my toolbar with that many icons out of a docked position so it's floating i cannot resize it, it will span onto my second display. How can we make it double row like this when docked or floating ? When it's docked most of the icons will be hidden because the icons are so big, i would prefer icons half or quarter that size to have all the iconbuttons i use the most always visible

Fusion 360 has built-in behaviors regarding the UI. The API lets you add new commands into the UI but doesn't let you override the standard behaviors. This means that icon size is either 16x16 or 32x32, (32x32 and 64x64 on hi-res displays), depending on if it's on the top of the toolbar or in a drop-down menu. Fusion 360 also enforces that the toolbar is a single row. If there are too many commands to fit it automatically starts hiding them to make it fit on a single row. The image you see in the What's New was pasted together by the author to try and demonstrate a bad cluttered UI. I haven't played with undocking the toolbar, but again you're going to get whatever the Fusion 360 standard behavior is and the API doesn't support overriding this.

I am sorry to resuscitate this post, but I am in the same situation. I would like the option to change the dimensions of the icon to a smaller size.

In my case I am using an LG Dual UP display with 16:18 ratio. The non HiDPI look awfull but the 1280x1440 have the icon too big and 2560x2880 way to small.

I'm dumbfounded the UI hasn't been updated since I posted about this 4 years ago! Still horrible, still can't resize the HUGE icons in the toolbar, still a great waste of valuable screen space, especially for laptop users. One of the many reasons I stick to Solidworks for any of my professional work. I have 2 clients in growing companies that have switched back to due to UI/usability issues that never get addressed. Sad, I do like Fusion, but not for enterprise use.
