topic Run Python script while animation is playing in Fusion API and Scripts Forum

I used the Fusion 360 API to create a simple script that mates two components. While mating the two components, I perform some ray tracing from an arbitrary point in the first component to some arbitrary points on the second component. I put an occlusion in the way to show the rays when the line-of-sight is occluded. See video here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbspTxkNVLc

My question is, rather than use Fusion 360 API to animate the movement, can I use the Animation feature in Fusion 360, and run my script in parallel?

For complex movements, it is much easier to use the GUI to animate the objects than to do it programmatically using the API. I would however still like to perform the ray tracing while the animation is running though.

It's not possible. There's currently not any API support for the functionality in the Animate workspace.
