Dynamo only working feet and inches?

Hi Everyone, Im having issues working with dynamo in metric units. It keep on loading like forever when I clicked enter. It does work with imperial but not metric. Can anyone help me?

Hi @Nazzaman,

Can you confirm you're running FormIt 2022.1? We made a fix in that update for Metric units when using Dynamo that would have caused the issues you're seeing, because the results could be unexpectedly very small or very numerous, causing the application to hang.

To fix this, FormIt 2022.1 includes a new FormItLengthString node that improves the experience and results when working with Metric units in Dynamo.

Having said that, we do have another known issue when using Dynamo in units other than Feet-Inch, specifically with a graph that uses the SelectFromFormIt node. Are you using the SelectFromFormIt node? If so, the results may be at the wrong scale, and we're working on a fix for this.

To recap, we'd like to know:

What version of FormIt are you running?
Is the graph you're trying to run using a SelectFromFormIt node?
Are you using one the built-in sample graphs? If so, which one?

Hi Josh, Sorry for the late reply. I'm using the latest build right now as the image attached. It was straight forward process applying storefront curtainwall to the surface. It works on Imperial but not in millimeters. I'm not sure about formitlengthstring since I'm pretty new with dynamo. let me know any link or video that I can refer to in relation to that process.

Thanks. This does appear to be the issue we're aware of and are fixing now. We plan to ship an update as soon as we can, with this and other important bug fixes.

Until then, you can work around this by setting FormIt to Imperial (feet/inch), and still use the Dynamo samples in whatever unit you'd like, since the new LengthString node can accept units that are different than FormIt's unit setting. For example, you can input mm units into the storefront/curtainwall Dynamo graph even though FormIt is set to Imperial.

As for documentation, you might want to read through our FormIt + Dynamo page to see everything you can do with this powerful integration.

why ... I mean WHYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I am trying to learn formit + Revit, now I need to learn PROGRAMMING BECAUSE FORMIT WORKS COMPLEX GEOMETRIES WITH DYNAMO ....... AND THAT'S NOT ALL, NOW I HAVE TO LEARN TO WORK IN FEET AND INCHES INSTEAD OF METRIC UNITS !!! ?? REALLY??????????????????????????????????????

it's not solved, here i have config my units in meters and the script keep showing it in feets and inches, or im doing something wrong???

@ARQLegend that's how the FormItLengthString node works, and is not related to the update.

Those fields in your screenshot will display the units the author of the graph used, regardless of FormIt's unit setting (in this case, the samples were saved using imperial units); however, you can easily enter whatever units you want in those fields and re-run the graph (also regardless of FormIt's unit setting).

This allows a single graph to support different units in each dimension field, and prevents rounding and precision issues that could arise if the saved units from the graph were converted to the current FormIt unit setting.

If you'd like, you can copy those sample graphs to your local drive, change the units to what you prefer in each of the FormItLengthString nodes, and use those new graphs as samples instead, so the initial values are in the units you prefer. But since it's likely you'll need to change the default values anyway, you can place the samples as they are, and then change the dimension values to whatever units you like.
