Next formit update?

Hi Tobias,

Was looking forward to some new formit sessions at AU2018 but there doesn’t seem to be any on the website?

also wondered when there would be an. Update with some new features? Anything planned for the near future?

Good morning, Scott! I hope you enjoyed AU, sorry to miss you there! I was doing research on interoperability between Revit and other applications - similar to workflows that we tested out between FormIt and Revit - but more general so other apps like Excel, Inventor, Infraworks, etc can be involved.

Josh Goldstein was at AU and I believe he attended a FormIt class - and he's been organizing the latest release of FormIt due out soon - I'll make sure he see's this post!

Hi Scott,

FormIt was featured in a few AU classes this year, as a key part of workflows that connect other apps like Dynamo, Insight, and Revit. We’ll post back with some links to the recordings when they are available!

We are working hard on the next version of FormIt, which is scheduled for release in early 2019 on Web, Windows, and iOS. Below are some of the areas we’re making major improvements to. Note this is not a complete list, not all of these features are available on all platforms, and these items are subject to change before release:

Performance improvements
Dynamo integration
Material modification controls
Scene customization
Orthographic views
New tools and geometry types
JavaScript Plugin infrastructure

All this, in addition to many refinements to existing functionality, like eliminating the need to use Tab to enter dimensions, new filtering/searching capabilities in lists like Materials and others, improvements to Smart Selection, and tons of bug fixes and general enhancements.

We’re also making major service changes to FormIt – some behind the scenes, others a bit more obvious – as some existing Autodesk services will be retired in the near future. We’ll announce these as we get closer to release.
