Error - cannot import material with zero scale.

Hi,

Searched the forum and internet for this problem but didn't find anything, apologies if covered before.

Task: Trying to import material from custom library in Formit Pro.

Problem: Faced with error message. Cannot import material with zero scale.

What am I missing?

Version: FormIt for windows.

Hi @martin.lennernas,

Sorry, this is a known issue in the current version, and there's no good workaround. It seems to be some data corruption happening between the Materials server and your machine, as it doesn't happen consistently to everyone. You can still create new Materials from textures in a local directory, or copy/paste geometry painted with Materials from other FormIt files.

The good news is, this is fixed in the next FormIt update which will be available in a few weeks. Hang tight! Apologies for the inconvenience.

@martin.lennernas can you try importing the same Material in FormIt Web?

We're curious to know if it works for you there, or if you get a similar error. If it does work, maybe this will suffice as a workaround until we update the Windows app. You could import all the Materials you're after in Web, save the file, then open in it in Windows and continue working there.

Hi Josh,

It worked. I applied wanted materials on objects online, saved the model locally, opened it up and the file came with materials from the online file loaded.

I tried to load the materials that I managed to import with the work around but the zero scale problem was still there. My machine seems to accept the materials but not the "transaction" loading them.

This issue has been fixed in FormIt v18, which has just been released. Read about it here, or get the update now.
