Unable to import from Excel

[ FlexSim 18.2.0 ]

Until recently, I was able to import data from Excel into my model using the "Excel Import/Export Interface". However, now whenever I try to import from Excel, I get the Excel interface error "Failed to initialize Excel Application! Error code -2147221005". Clicking "Okay" brings up the pop-up "The Excel file did not open correctly. Do you want to browse for the file?"

Notably, my Excel was recently updated to Version 1811. However, my co-workers also have the same version of Excel and have no issue importing from Excel into the same model. Additionally, this issue appears to be affecting my ability to import into any FlexSim model (even an empty one I just created), not just the model I have been working on.

I have attached images of the error messages.

This might be a registry issue since it's localized to your machine. Try reinstalling Flexsim, and if that doesn't work try reinstalling Office as well.

Reinstalling Excel seemed to fix this issue. I don't really understand why the issue originally occurred or what reinstalling Excel fixed, but that appears to be the solution here.

Hi @Joshua S ! I have the same problem. Uninstall and install Office and test if it works but not. Uninstall FlexSim 19.2.4 and reinstall but it still presents me with the same problem when I want to import information from Excel. How can I solve this problem?

Have you had multiple versions of Excel on your computer? I noticed I had to clean up bread crumbs that Office leaves behind after installing an uninstalling different versions, especially if there were multiple versions of excel installed on the same computer.

I have a new computer equipment. I have only installed the latest version of Excel. The Office 365 package.

Can you try installing an running FlexSim 19.1? I don't believe we made any changes to the excel interface in how it communicates, but want to double check becasue I don't know how else to replicate this issue.

Office 365 is a subscription service to office apps. Did you install a desktop client Excel application or just their web app?
