Flexsim can connect with outside devices like PLC etc.

Flexsim will have Emulator module and the module is tested as beta.

You can test it in current Flexsim 2017.2.3 verson after downloading the beta module from flexsim download page.

The emulator module has the feature followed;

As a Data Collection Tool

If you have a real system already
implemented, you may want to gather data on that system. FlexSim can read in
real data from your servers and PLCs and change the model state to reflect the
state of your real system. You can use dashboard charts to gather statistics or
store data to tables to use for subsequent model runs.

As a Virtual PLC

FlexSim's Process Flow can be
used to graphically build ladder logic that simulates the ladder logic used in
PLC programming. This can allow you to test a new system before implementing
it.

As a Controller

Since FlexSim can communicate
with a PLC directly or to a server running on another computer, it can control
that system.

Hello David,

I have follow-up question on your answer. I am trying to learn more about validating PLC. and I need to practice by starting with something small. Here is a scenario, boxes are coming on two different conveyors and they both have photo eye which is correspond with flapper system which allows them to get merge on one conveyor depending on blockage. I can get the server access from Network team, but how I can build the that logic in process flow. And after that how I can test with real time photo eye? Are there any tutorials video or step-by-step instructions for this procedure except followed link?

Actually I found more contents on that. Please ignore my previous comment.

I will try that out.
