License Installation - Unable to activate Flexsim 17 License

Hello

We have Flexsim Simulation Software (LAN License) with 20 users. The software is with us for 10 years and has been working fine for all the previous versions. However, we are now facing a problem with reference to license activation in the server.

Server Config:

OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2 - 32 bit

I tried updating my license to the latest Flexsim 17 version license through my account, but am not successful.

I tried to do using LMTOOLS as well as LMADMIN but its not working.

Kindly help.

I am attaching the screenshots of license errors that I am getting.

Also let me know whether new license will work on my server OS configuration. If not how do I get back my old activation key/license for making Flexsim work?

@YEOLE SHIVRAJ NARAYAN Flexsim 17 is still in beta! Have you read all the comments (make them visible by clicking "Show" ) underneath the post that speaks about the release of version 17? Because some of those comments all so deal with your problem. Please read this:Flexsim 2017 Beta Available

The new version of Flexnet Publisher requires network license servers to be upgraded. They need to use the latest vendor daemon and update the Flexnet Licensing Service. More information can be found in the license upgrade instructions at https://www.flexsim.com/ftp/LicenseServer/

Looks like the oldest supported OS for lmadmin is Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista.

Its entirely possible that everything will still work correctly on a Windows Server 2003 host, it's just not a supported platform.

lmtools shouldn't have any problems on a Windows Server 2003 host.

Whether you go with lmadmin or lmtools, just make sure to download the latest License Server Tools in order to properly license FlexSim 2017.

Can you please clarify more on the following queries?

My server has Windows server 2003 32 bit OS and the flexsim licence is a 20 seat licence under maintenance.

1) When I try to run this flexsim.exe as an administrator, it gives a message that it is not a valid win32 application. So my question is whether the exe file given in the folder runs only on 64 bit OS?

2) Under my licences tab, activation ID for Flexsim 17 is shown but the number of seats shown is 0/20. When I click on this link it displays below the link:

Activate Dec 06, 2016 13:43:48

I am not able to use the licence for the past 1 month. When I try to activate licence it shows

Operations error: 7288 The activation of the fulfillment is denied by the activation policy because fulfill count exceeded the available seat count. [Incident# 6594-111128

For returning, it shows

Operations error: 7466 The return of the fulfillment is denied by the return policy because max return exceeded [Incident# 7040-231129]

Please help.

1) the flexsim.exe is a 32Bit-version. It is executable in windows XP compatible mode.

2) To return a license you have to show the license in the flexsimserveractutil.exe and copy the Fulfillment ID. You see there the licenses stored in the trusted storage, too.

Error 7466 Reason: You have deactivated the license too many times in a 30 days period.

You can ask Flexsim Inc. to reset the max count of returned licenses by sending the Incident Number with your request.

I do not find any email address of Flexsim Inc. in this site. Everywhere they have given link to Flexsim Q & A.

How do I ask them to reset the max count of returned licences?

Hi @YEOLE SHIVRAJ NARAYAN,

Ideally you will upgrade your license server to a secure and maintained operating system, newer than 14-years-old Windows Server 2003, which Microsoft is no longer maintaining. lmadmin's system requirements specify at least Server 2008. If you do not or cannot upgrade, it is likely that lmtools at least will still work.

If your license server hosts only FlexSim, you should completely uninstall lmadmin. You should also remove any FlexNet services that may be installed.

Then you should download the latest License Server tools and follow the instructions exactly. There are 32-bit and 64-bit files for both lmadmin and lmtools included in this download.

Finally, if you examine your licenses within your FlexSim Account, you can click on a particular activation ID and it will populate the activation/return history of that license. You will see that your FlexSim Enterprise 2017 license was already activated on Dec. 6. This is why you cannot activate again. It has already been activated somewhere.
