How to move contents to a plane that has AutoCAD drawing?

[ FlexSim 16.1.2 ]

I used the plane as the placeholder for Autocad background, and it's 41' off the ground. when I am laying out the objects on that cad background, by default the object's z coordinates will be 0, I have to change them to 41'. But the objects will not be part of the plane. Then I can't turn them on/off together.

Is there a way to move some objects to a plane in this case? In a normal situation, if it's just a plane, you can drag objects into the plane and it will have the container functionality page. But in this case when I am having CAD as the background, it doesn't have the container tab. It doesn't seem to function like a container.

Thanks,

Chao

In the model tree view you can shift select the objects you want in the plane (so there is a red highlight around them). Then go to View > Edit Selected Objects, click on the plane (so that it's yellow) and over on the right click the button "Move into Highlighted." That should move all the items you want into the plane.

thanks a lot, this works great, one more question on this, in the model tree view, I have node that has long names and currently, the node tree doesn't expand to see the full view of the node, there is this sign... after certain number of characters, it's not convenient for me to know if I am selecting the right objects, is there a way to expand to full name view for all nodes?

it's a related question, so I am trying to layout the objects on this plan that's 41' off the ground, is there a way to change the default Z value to 41', so I don't have to move them later?

In the View Settings window, you can adjust the Floor Z to change where the floor and grid are drawn so that objects you drag in are created at a different Z position. You can then set it back to 0 to return the grid and floor back to where they were.

You also could have added a plane to your model, and then added a plane within that plane. You could set the inner plane to the autocad drawing, and use the outer plane as a floor that you can click on, drag objects onto, and hide the contents of.
