[ FlexSim 22.1.0 ]

Hello everybody,

I seek your assistance in designing an automatically-slotting function. As you may see in the attached model file, I expect to construct a scenario in which products are transported into slots of racks at different heights while a conveyor plays a role of a transporter. The idea of slotting automation comes from the video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjCBe5oNYMY.

Despite the lucidity of my thought, there is some uncertainty about how to realise it. So far, an endeavour has been made to establish an equivalent function by applying the kinematics activity in the Process Flow to a conveyor, but that does not look remarkably automatic. It would be better to see a conveyor that can automatically place items based on slots' heights, namely the axis of Z.

I look forward to your ideas and thoughts.

Thank you

Automated Warehouse Model.fsm

Rather than looking at what the objects in the video look like, you should focus on how the objects in the video move.

Then you can use the appropriate FlexSim object that causes the item to move the way it does in the video.

Each of these objects may have rollers that look like conveyors, but the lifting mechanism behaves how an Elevator object works, and the loading/conveyance/unloading of the "agvs" moves like the ASRSvehicle.

Attached (te_coordination_subflow.fsm) is a sample model that demonstrates using these objects with a custom task sequence to coordinate the movement of the different TEs using Process Flow.

Based on the video, you'd want to use 1 ASRS for each rack level.

Once you have the motion you want of the items and the TEs, then you can hide all the extra mesh components of the involved objects and replace certain shapes with meshes that look like the ones in the video. (or add additional components with shapes to be positioned where you want them relative to the existing components.)

This is just a simple example. You'll want to customize the tasks in the task sequence so that the objects move the items how you want when you want with the appropriate speeds and timing.
