I've had this happen too.

I believe there are 5 backups. So if it does happen don't try to open more than once or twice to be safe.

Our local engineers know how to do this too as our machine is not connected to the net.

But last time it happened I simply made a new project and dragged everything across.

It was fine, and I carried on and finished the job.

But apparently this can easily copy the corruption to your new project, so it's probably better to restore the system to a place before the crash.
