We have both Flame 2018.3 and Flame Assist but have not had a reason to share data between the stations until now.

How do you share setups between the two stations? I know you can use Shared Libraries, but that requires both to be in the same project. I need to send some graphic setups (timeline BFX) to someone who needs the logo animations but for use in a different project.

I can save the nodes and the batch file, but it looks as if these do not include the media.

Is there an easy way to save a shot, along with all its BFX info and media, then send it to another station and be easy to import and work with?

thanks

Adam

Hi Adam,

If you want to transfer the setup with its media to another workstation that effectively makes a copy in a different project than you need to WIRE the data across.

You can arrange your data in a number of ways but the physical transfer mechanism is the same.

If you wanted to transfer a BFX clip, this would normally contain everything including setups and media.

If you want to transfer a Batch Setup, I would suggest transferring the whole Batch group which should also contain media and setups.

Since you mentioned that you're going to a Flame Assist, I would be inclined to go the BFX clip route as Flame Assist does not have direct access to Batch.

WORKFLOW:

Save your BatchFX clip to the Desktop or Library.

Go to the MediaHUB

At the top of the screen, change the mode from BROWSE FOR FILES to BROWSE FOR PROJECTS

This will list all your projects on your workstation but if you scroll to the bottom of the list, you will see the AUTODESK NETWORK and your Flame Assist should be there.

Double-click the Flame Assist workstation and you'll have access to its projects.

Navigate to the project you want to copy the BFX clip.

Drag and drop the BFX clip from the Media Panel into the Reel/folder of the destination project.

You should see a copy/transfer window appear with a progress count.

Once it is finished, you should now have individual copies of the same BFX clip with its media on two different workstations in two different project.

Finally, this transfer method is bi-directional with concurrent versions of software. So the method above is a "pushing" the BFX clip to the Flame Assist. But you could easily browse the Flame projects from the Flame Assist workstation and "pull" the BFX clip into the active project. Both methods are the same, it just depends on what workstation you are currently sitting on.

Please hit the Accept as Solution button if my post fully solves your issue or answers your question.

Regards

Grant
