topic Curves coming out as segments. creating huge amount of code in FeatureCAM Forum

Hello been using FeatureCAM for 3 years. After the last update, mine started producing huge amounts of code. Instead of a nice I and J code for arcs and circles, it produces a ton of line segments. Ive gone through the setting and Im at a loss on how to fix the issue. Any and all help appreciated.

Thanks

Zach

Could you attach a file for me to tinker with? This could be post related.....but probably not.

Depending on the type of feature, output options can be modified to rectify some of this. If is is side and pocket features, smoothing/reducing the curves may help as well. Are you just sketching within FC, or is this data coming in from elsewhere? That could also be the culprit.

If you can attach your files, that will help.

Using curves generated from models can sometimes yield these polyline segments. I've found that if I create geometry off the edge of the model, then create a curve based on that geometry, the output code is generated using arcs and lines. Hope this helps.

This is a good suggestion from @Muppett1. It could be an issue with whatever translator is being used, I suppose. Maybe try switching that up in the File Options.

Furthermore, you might have luck using the Smooth/Reduce option in the Curve from Curve section of the Curve Wizard. I have run into very similar situations where smoothing the curve seemed to do the trick.
