&lt;P&gt;Regarding "layered_2textures_3UVSets.fbx", unfortunately, I do not know much about the history of that file. Probably it was created in 2014.&amp;nbsp;Embedding data must have been done correctly, because it works in fbx SDK 2016.1.2 and earlier versions.&amp;nbsp;Is it possible for you to try my file in an earlier version of FBX (2016 or 2015, etc) ?&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Old fbx file 2012.x containing embedded texture are not extracting properly with fbx sdk 2017 and 2018. Is it a known issue, is there some workaround I can do in the code to support those?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I try the file in Maya 2016 and it extract the texture correctly but not with Maya 2018 or fbx review 1.4.1&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;What do you mean by: "are not extracting correctly" ? I tried with another file and the embedded textures are found as expected by both Maya 2018 and FBXReview. I may be able to give a better answer if you can provide the FBX file so I can inspect it. From the FBX SDK point of view, except for very rare cases, FBX files remains compatible across FBX versions.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Good question! I will need to ask around (but I believe that, for sensitive data, we can create a private folder in Box and share it with you). But before we get there, I am attaching my test file so you can verify if if works for you. It does extract correctly the embedded textures. You should get three files in the ExportScene03_MC.fbm folder: gradient.jpg, scene03.jpg and spotty.jpg.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;I face similar issue, while importing the attached file "layered_2textures_3UVSets.fbx&lt;EM&gt;"&lt;/EM&gt; containing embedded textures. Importing the file creates a directory "layered_2textures_3UVSets.fbm&lt;EM&gt;"&amp;nbsp;&lt;/EM&gt; and two image files "Eye.jpg" and "floor.jpg". However, it works like this till fbx&amp;nbsp;2016.1.2 version only.&amp;nbsp; With versions &lt;SPAN&gt;"&lt;/SPAN&gt;2017.1&lt;SPAN&gt;"&lt;/SPAN&gt;, &lt;SPAN&gt;"&lt;/SPAN&gt;2017.0.1&lt;SPAN&gt;"&lt;/SPAN&gt;, &lt;SPAN&gt;"&lt;/SPAN&gt;2018.1.1&lt;SPAN&gt;"&lt;/SPAN&gt; and &lt;SPAN&gt;"&lt;/SPAN&gt;2019.0&lt;SPAN&gt;", it doesn't create any image files, only the directory&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;"layered_2textures_3UVSets.fbm&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;EM&gt;"&amp;nbsp;&lt;/EM&gt; is created.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Please Note: I have the same piece of code for all the versions.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I have attached the file for your reference. Does anyone have a clue, what's going wrong and how to fix this? Please help!&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;this is strange. How did you created your file and, more importantly, how did you embedded the texture files? I just tested the embedded.fbx file (created from Maya 2018 by exporting as an FBX 2014/2015) and I have no problem extracting the file (five.jpg) in the fbm folder. Note that even if I had written a 2018 FBX file it would have worked (I tried ;-)).&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Can you see what results you get with embedded.fbx? I confirm that no texture files are extracted in the fbm folder for me too with your file, but I just can't see why (unless of course, the embedding was not done correctly)!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;The textures FileName and the video Filename have a \ where otherwise all the other separator are / :&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;During an uniformization pass in the FBX SDK 2017, the low level function FbxPathUtils::GetFileName(...) was updated to look for a '/' before the '\' and this now fails to extract the filename part and&amp;nbsp; it gets: &lt;STRONG&gt;FN_DefaultMale_Characterized.fbm\T_M_Avg_Head_Head1_D.tga&lt;/STRONG&gt; instead of &lt;STRONG&gt;T_M_Avg_Head_Head1_D.tga&lt;/STRONG&gt;. In FBX SDK 2016, the function was performing the opposite test (so looking first for the '\' and then for the '/'. It just happen to work in this particular case but if the path was defined with all '\' and one final '/', then 2016 would have failed while 2017 would work flawlessly!&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;I am not sure how the '\' got in there, it looks like the FBX SDK would always append a terminating '/' when creating a path. Maybe&amp;nbsp; the old Maya 2012 (apparently the file was created&amp;nbsp; with this version) did not properly cleaned the file paths (possibly because the file was re-imported after the textures were already extracted to the .fbm folder?). &lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;Regardless, one solution would be to convert the file using the FBX SDK 2016, you could take the ConvertScene sample and strip the formats that you don't want (basically, just keep the "_fbx7binary.fbx", "FBX binary (*.fbx)" lFileTypes. Then, add the (EXP_FBX_EMBEDDED, true) just before the call to lExporter-&amp;gt;Export(lScene).:&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;I don't know the frequency of files with the terminating '\' instead of the '/'. Hopefully, there are only very few files with this. All the files I checked have consistent file paths (either all '/' or all '\') and, when "programmatically" created paths,&amp;nbsp; the last separator&amp;nbsp; is always '/'.&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
