Hey Loren,

yes the floor is quite aggravating. I can turn it off but

if I do, the pit looks like a floating basin, which is not

very good.

Do I really have to do a sketch for the floor level and

turn off the floor in Factory then? It´s not very practical

I think.

Kind regards

Daniel

Hello there,

when you place a pit there is a grey shadow indicating

the ground level. Can this be turned off? It´s not looking

good when rendering the layout.

Thanks in advance

Daniel

Hi,

A solid floor is automatically created when you add a pit, which complicates things a bit. In Inventor, the floor visibility setting controls both the solid floor and the reference floor.

In Navisworks, you can turn off the reference floor in the application options.

Regards.

Loren

Hi Daniel,

You just want get good shadow on the ground floor, right?

Why not open the floor part from disc in Inventor and assign great material to the floor part.

Thanks,

Hello Xuesong,

yes it partly is because of the shadows but mainly

the grey tint on the floor level. I will consider your

suggestion and thanks !

Kind regards

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I came up with a workaround. Here are the basic steps:

I created a new pit asset with the top face cut down by 1". This eliminates the appearance conflict between the floor and the top of the pit.

I placed the new pit and turned off the floor visibilty.

I added a copy of the floor (just drag and drop from the browser). Note that the new floor isn't in the Floor Objects folder and doesn't include the cutout for the pit.

I created a sketch on the new floor (3D Model tab> New 2D Sketch) and projected the outside edges of the rim.

I created an Extrusion that cut through the new floor. (turn off visibility for the pit first so it isn't included in the Extrusion feature)

I used the Ground and Root command to align the floor with the origin (Assemble tab> Productivity panel> dropdown menu).

Hello Loren,

thank you so much.
