I've been having the same problem, and while I have no idea what causes it either, I've found another way to get the connector back.

Right click on the asset, go to "Factory" --> "Replace with Asset" and select the same asset again. This seems to reset the asset (while keeping the same Factory Properties) and gets your connector back.

Hi,

This is unusual behavior. A connection is a set of assembly constraints, and each connection in each asset is independent.

Once you snap two assets together, the constraints for those connections are consumed, but they should become available again if you delete one of the assets or delete the constraints in the browser. If you suppress the constraints in the browser, however, the constraints are still consumed even though they aren't active.

Can you provide more information on what you are doing? Does it only happen with certain assets? Also, can you provide steps to reproduce the problem?

Hi Loren,

I knew used connectors are consumed but I did not know

they are to become available again as soon as the asset

they are connected to s deleted. This is quite uncommon

judging from my personal experience. It´s more of an oc-

casional event and we all got used to reinsert assets be-

cause this is not working very well. Until now I did not look

any closer when this happened, but I will keep track. My

first guess is the connection is refused as soon as this

would result in another parameter change via connector

class properties. I will examine the assets in use when this

happens the next time and inform you.

Thanks so much

Daniel

Hi,

I just tried this with the straight roller conveyor from the system assets and I didn't have any problems. I changed parameters, deleted conveyors, etc.

1) Place three roller conveyors.

2) Change the height of Conveyor 1 to 800 mm. All of the conveyors become 800 mm high.

3) Delete Conveyor 1.

4) Add a new conveyor connected to Conveyor 2. Conveyor 4 updates to 800 mm high.

5) Change the height of Conveyor 2 to 600 mm. All of the conveyors are 600 mm high.

6) Delete Conveyor 2.

7) Change the width of Conveyor 4 to 500 mm. Conveyor 3 doesn't change because the conveyors aren't connected.

8) Connect Conveyor 4 to Conveyor 3. The width of Conveyor 4 changes to match Conveyor 3.

9) Expand Conveyor 3 in the browser, and delete the Flush and 2 Mate constraints between the conveyors. These are the constraints created by the connection.

10) Change the width of Conveyor 4 to 500 mm again. Conveyor 3 doesn't update because the conveyors aren't connected.

11) Drag Conveyor 3 away and then connect it to Conveyor 4. Conveyor 3 updates to match the width of Conveyor 4.

There might be a problem with particular assets, or you might be doing something more complex.

Hello Loren,

right after your e-mail I tested your workflow

and you´re right. I will send a memo to all tho-

se using the library to tell me when this hap-

pens. I will be getting back to you as soon as

I can clearly point out when this happens.

The assemblies usually were more complex,

but I can´t tell when it happens exactly yet.

I´ll be glad to be hearing from you agaian then.

Kind regards

Daniel

Hello Loren,

again this happened and I thought it´s happening when we´re

moving around several connected assets to a new location,

but when closing and reopening Inventor this suddenly worked

again. So we´re sadly not able to reproduce the error which

might mean it´s just a random error, so I will keep this in mind.

Kind regards

Daniel
